General Education classes stongly advised: Chemistry 111, 112, 113 (15); Human Physiology 201 (5); Microbiology 111 (5); Economics 101 (5). Excellent traning for professionals in business, food industries, and institutions. C. Consumer Education Emphasis: 110 (3), 115 (3), 204 (5), 315 (3), 316 (3), 335 (3), and other hours as specified by department adviser; i.e., readings and related courses. Training for professionals in credit bureaus, family financial centers, family services, extension service specialists and home economists. D. Clothing & Textiles Emphasis: 130 (3), 133 (1-6), 204 (5), 230 (4), 235 (5), 315 (3), 330 (1-6), 335 (3) and other hours as specified by departmental adviser; i.e., practicums, readings, related courses inside and outside of department. Program: Child and Family Studies Departmental Honors I. General Requirements: A. Enroll in the General Honors Program and complete 10 hours of General Honors courses. B. Maintain a grade of B or better in all Child and Family Studies courses. C. Fulfill the requirements for the Child Development major, Early Childhood Education, or one of the Family Studies Major Options. II. Specific Requirements: Option I: A. In fulfilling a Child and Family Studies Honors major, complete at least 20 hours of courses on an honors basis. B. The above 20 hours should include at least 2 hours in Child and Family Studies 486 taken as Child and Family Honors Practicum. C. The Student may earn Child and Family Honors credit in any Child and Family Studies course numbered 200 and above. D. Permission from the department chair should be sought before registering in a course for honors credit. A written agreement should be reached with the appropriate professor concerning the work expected for honors credit. Option II: A. In fulfilling a Child and Fmily Studies Honors major, complete at least 12 hours of courses on a honors basis. 230 B Child and Family Studies III. Two of the above hours should be taken as Child and Family Studies 486 taken as Child and Family Honors Practicum. C. In addition to the above hours, complete at least 6 to 9 hours in Honors 499, Honors Senior Project. The purpose of this stipulation is to provide an opportunity for the student to do a research project of quality to be presented to the faculty or to a professional meeting. The student is free to switch options with the consent of his major adviser. He may change any course selected for honors to non-honors status withing the first 5 weeks of the quarter. Program: Child Development Minor I. General Requirements: A. An overall GPA of 2.00 or C is required. II. Specific Requirements: A. Minimum of 24 credit hours. B. Emphases: 1. Basic Child Development Minor—Early Childhood and Family Studies courses required (24 credit hours): 150 (5), 256 (4), 360 (3), 362 (4), 371 (3), 372 (6). Child Development Minor—Middle Childhood/Adolescence. a. Child and Family Studies course required (21 credit hours): 150 (5), 257 (3), 286 (4), 360 (3), 364 (3), 450 (3), 492 (1). b. Child and Family Studies courses to elect from (at least 3 credit hours), 255 (3), 256 (4), 362 (4), 451 (3), 483 (1-3), 470 (3), 492 (1-3), 499A (2-4). Child Development Minor—Sequence for Parenting a. Child and Family Study courses required (22 credit hours) 150 (5), 255 (3), 256 (4), 257 (3), 286 (4), 450 (3). b.
