Show Geology Geology b. III. E. An overall GPA of 2.00 or C is required. F. 183 total hours are required for this degree. G. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). Specific Requirements: A. Minimum of 53 credit hours in Geology courses (includes required core and option courses.) B. Geology core courses required (34-40 credit hours)- Geology 101 (5) or 111 (4), 112 (1), 122 (5), 204 (4)' 205 (4), 206 (3), 306 (4), 351 (9) 376 (4), or 406 (4), 499 (1). C. Students must also select and complete all courses in a specific emphases as listed below. D. Support courses required: 1. Chemistry 121 (5), 122 (5), 123 (5); Mathematics 106 (5), 107 (5). 2. Fifteen hours of physics in the General Physics or Engineering Physics series: a. General Physics 111 (4), 112 (4), 113 (4), 114 (1), 115 (1), 116 (1). Engineering Physics 261 (4), 262 (4), 263 (4), 264 (1), 265 (1), 266 (1). Engineering Physics is required of those contemplating graduate work in Geophysics. Recommended Support courses: Geography 345 (3), Computer Information Systems 140 (4) or 260 (3), Mathematics 212 (5) or 215 (5) and a course in basic statistics. Students planning to attend graduate school should take Mathematics 212 or 215. Specific Emphases: A. Mineralogy, Petrology and Mineral Resources: Geology 430 (4), 450 (4), 460 (4), 465 (4), electives approved by departmental chairperson (4). Support course required: Mathematics 212 (5),or 215 (5). Sedimentalogy, Stratigraphy and Petroleum Geology: Geology 318 (4), 385 (4), 410 (3) or 425 (3), 460 (4). Support course required: Mathematics 212 (5) or 215 (5). Support courses recommended: Geology 339 (3), 450 (4), Geography 345 (3), 346 (3). Environmental Geology and Renewable Resources: Geology 254 (4), 315 (4), 388 (4), electives approved by departmental chairperson (7). Support course required: Economics 364 (3). F. B C. 266 Program: Geology Minor and Geology Teaching Minor I. General Requirements: A. A grade of C or better in minor courses. II. Specific Requirements: A. Geology departmental minors 1. Geology courses required (minimum 23 credit hours): a. Geology 111 (4), and 112 (1) or 101 (5), 112 (1), 122 (5), 204 (4), 205 (4), 206 (3). b. Select two of the following three courses: Geology 295 and/or 495 (3); 306 (4), 318 (4). c. Minors must sign up for at least one hour in special problems (480) covering the subject content of the third course not taken. B. Geology Teaching minors 1. Geology courses required: a. Geology 111 (4), or 101 (5) 112 (1), 121 (4), 122 (5). b. Select three of the following four courses: Geology 295 and/or 495 (3); 254 (4), 306 (4), 318 (4). c. Program: Geology — Geography Departmental Honors. I. General Requirements: A. Enroll in the General Honors Program and complete 10 hours of General Honors courses. B. Maintain an overall GPA of 3.3. C. Fulfill requirements for one of the following: Earth Science Composite Teaching Major, Geography Major, Geography Teaching Major, or Geology Major. II. Specific Requirements: A. In fulfilling requirements for one of the departmental majors complete at least 20 credit hours of Honors credit. B.
