Show Computer Information Systems Computer Information Systems students trained in Computer Information Systems may progress into positions of management in data processing, or related areas within the organization. Sales of computers and computing equipment provides an additional career path the student may pursue. Program: Computer Information Systems Major — Bachelor Degree Emphases: Business Without Minor Business With Minor Science I. General Requirements: A. Specific course requirements of the college (see index). B. Bachelor degree General Education requirements (see index). 1. Economics 101 (5); Psychology 101 (5), or Sociology 101 (5) or Anthropology 101 (5) are required for Social Science area for Business emphasis. C. An overall GPA of at least 2.50 in Computer Information Systems Courses. Grades of less than C- in major courses will not be accepted towards graduation. II. Business Emphasis (without minor) A. The School of Business and Economics Core (51 credit hours): 1. Mathematics 107 (5). 2. Economics 102 (3), 260 (4), 261 (4). 3. Accounting 201 (4), 202 (4), 203 (4). 4. Office Administration 225 (4) or English 310 (3). 5. Business Administration 225 (4). 6. Finance 320 (4). 7. Marketing 301 (4). 8. Management 301 (4). B. Computer Information Systems Course requirements (minimum 7 credit hours): III. 1. COMIS 160 (4), and one course from the following: COMIS 120 (4), or 130 (4) or 140 (4), 240 (4), 250 (4), or 260 (3). 2. Select two additional courses from the following (8 credit hours): COMIS 380 (4), 395 (4), 410 (4), 470 (4). Business Emphasis (with minor) A. Specific course requirements (Minimum 11 credit hours): 1. COMIS 101 (4), 160 (4), and one course from the following: 120 (4), 130 (4), 140 (4), 240 (4), 250 (4), 260 (3). 2. Select two additional courses from the following: COMIS 380 (4), 395 (4), 410 (4), 470 (4). A minor in any department within the School of Business 366 B. C. and Economics is required (see individual department descriptions). Support courses required (minimum 32 credit hours): 1. Accounting 201 (4), 202 (4), 203 (4). 2. Mathematics 107 (5). 3. Economics 260 (4), 261 (4). 4. Office Administration 225 (4)., or English 310 (3). 5. Finance 320 (4). IV. Science Emphasis A. A minor is not required for the Science Emphasis. B. Computer Information Systems course requirements (50 credit hours): 1. COMIS PD 101 (4), 240 (4), 260 (3), 201 (4), 215 (4), 280 (4), 302 (4), 310 (4), 370 (4), 380 (4), 430 (4), 440 (4), 480 (4), 499 (1). 2. Select two additional courses from the following: COMIS 311 (4), 312 (4), 328 (4), 395 (4), 410 (4), 470 (4). C. Support courses required (52 minimum credit hours): 1. Mathematics 211 (5), 212 (5), 213 (5), 320 (5), 341 (5), 461 (3), 462 (3). 2. English 310 (3) or Office Administration 225 (4). 3. Physics 261 (4), 262 (4), 264 (1), 265 (1). 4. Eight departmentally approved credit hours in Engineering Technology, Science, Mathematics, and upper division Computer Information Systems. Program: Computer Information Systems Minor I. Computer Information Systems course requirements (a minimum of 28 credit hours): A. COMIS 101 (4), 120 (4), or 130 (4), or 140 (4) or 160 (4) or 240 (4) or 250 (4) or 260 (3), and the following courses: 201 (4), 215 (4), 274 (4). B. Select 8 hours from the following: COMIS 302 (4), 360 (4) 370 (4), 380 (4), 395 (4), 410 (4), 430 (4), 470 (4). C. An overall GPA of at least 2.5 in Computer Information Systems Courses.
