A W S (2-5) PHOTOGRAPHY Today Photography contributes to nearly every human activity. Students in science, art, journalism, and education will find the photography courses particularly helpful in supplementing their major fields. Photography Minor—A minimum of 20 hours including Photography 101 and 210. Art majors who minor in photography take Photography 101, 210, 124, 320, and 430. Secondary education majors who minor in Instructional Media will take Photography 101 and 340. Photography 210 is recommended. Courses of Instruction 101. Basic Photography—Light, optics, exposures, sensitized materials, filters, chemistry, and principles of color photography. Laboratory work includes camera operation, developing, printing and enlarging. Four lectures and one laboratory a week. No prerequisite. A W S (5) 124. Portrait Photography—Lighting, posing, processing, printing, and finishing techniques; introduction to retouching. Three lectures and one laboratory a week. Prerequisite: Photography 101. W (4) 108 Arts, Letters and Science — Art 127. Portrait Oil Coloring—Transparent oil coloring of portrait and other subjects. Three hours demonstration and practice a week. Usually evening school. No prerequisite. (1) 210. Color Photography—Color theory, taking pictures in color, processing color film and color prints. Three lectures and one laboratory a week. Prerequisite: Photography 101. A (4) 216. Photo Journalism—Planning and production of photography for publication. Three lectures and one laboratory a week. Prerequisite: Photography 101. (4) 310. Advanced Color Photography—Three lectures and one laboratory a week. Prerequisite: Photography 210. A (4) 320. Pictorial Photography—Production of exhibition type pictures. Composition, exposure, negative and print control, finishing and mounting of prints. Two lectures and six hours lab a week. Prerequisite: Photography 101. S Su (4) 324. Advanced Portrait Photography—Three lectures and one laboratory a week. Prerequisite: Photography 124 and 210. W (4) 340. Motion Picture Photography—Planning, taking, editing, and presentation of motion pictures. Three lectures and one laboratory per week. Prerequisite: Photography 101. (4) 430. Commercial-Illustrative Photography—Photography of a variety of commercial subjects for advertising and illustration. Three lectures and one laboratory a week. Prerequisites: Photography 101 and 210. (4) 450. Technical Photography—A variety of photographic techniques having particular application to the biological and physical sciences. Three lectures and one laboratory per week. Prerequisite: Photography 101. (4) 460. Police Science Photography—Equipment, processes and techniques of photography as applied to law enforcement. Three lectures and one laboratory a week.
