Gun Repair (General Shop)—Leisure-time activity of- ferred to acquaint the student with procedures involved in blueing, manufacture of small parts and accessories; repair of stocks, barrels and trigger mechanisms. (1) 171, 172, 173, 174, 175, 176-Machine Tool-Fundamentals of the operation, such as tool grinding, setting up apparatus, chucking work, center drilling radii and fillet forming, knurling, external threading, drilling, boring, reaming and taper turning. Continued courses will include drilling machines, milling machines, metal sawing and grinders. (3-3-3-3-3-3) WELDING Courses of Instruction 171, 172, 173, 174, 175, 176. Welding (Electric Arc)-For students with little or no training in arc welding as well as those who wish to upgrade themselves in the trades. Welding beads, 388 Continuing Education — Technology butt joints, lap joints, fillet weld, pipe welding; overhead, vertical, and flat position welding; preparing and welding of repair jobs; cast aluminum welding; classroom instruction. (3-3-3-3-3-3) 181, 182, 183, 184, 185, 186-Welding (Acetylene)-For students with little or no training in acetylene welding as well as those who wish to upgrade themselves in the trades. Acetylene welding and continuing into advanced welding, and repair jobs; welding beads, butt joints, lap joints, filled welds, pipe welding, as well as overhead, vertical and flat position welding. Bronze welding of cast white metal, etc.; classroom instruction. (3-3-3-3-3-3) 191, 192, 193. Tungsten Inert Gas Welding-Manipulation and theory of gas arc welding process for those with previous arc or acetylene welding experience. Welding of the most commonly used industrial metals stressed. (3-3-3) APPRENTICE RELATED TRAINING Courses of Instruction Courses listed in this area are for apprentices of the various trades who have been indentured with their local unions and have made proper application through the State Director of Apprenticeship for apprentice training. 050. Electrical Wiring—For apprentices in the electrical construction industry. Instruction in elementary electricity and magnetism, direct current, fundamentals of alternating current, industrial electronics and the National Electric Code which includes: identification of conductions, branch circuits, feeders, services, grounding, motors and controllers, conductors, cables, and conduit raceways. (3) 051. Building Construction—A study for apprentices designed to cover all areas of building construction in theory only. Designed for apprentice training where experience is obtained on the job. Areas covered may be listed as tools, materials, and history of the trade; foundations, rough framing; exterior and interior finish; stair building; cabinet making; concrete work; blueprint reading and estimating. (3) 055- Elementary Plumbing—The first two and one half years of a five year course in related instruction to apprenticeships in the plumbing trade.
