Show residents, as witnessed in floats, and decorated bicycles, tricycles and wagons. The Phipps, Will Holley, and Paul Himle families, and the Little Miss Firecracker floats were among those who received a trophy for their entries. It was fun for both participants and spectators. Hamburgers and hot dogs, prepared by council members, were sold, so good food was available. The auction for the senior center, with Judy Fuller in charge, brought in about $600.00. Who is the champion pie eater in the community? It must be Alden Farr who won the contest again this year, and issued a challenge to all contenders to get prepared for next year. Young people enjoyed the giant slide and the candy cannon. Plinko, spin-the-wheel, soccer kick, and hit the super heroes, were booth games which filled the afternoon with fun for many. A baby contest held in the afternoon saw Alexis Maughan selected as Princess, Chance Sjostrom, King, and Kyson Meyerhoffer as Prince. This was also under Lori Jones' guidance. It was a great celebration remembering the birth of our country. Thanks to Pam Slater and all her helpers for an entertaining celebration again this year. The city's booth in the Weber County Fair won 3rd place in the community booth category, and the staff are sincerely thanked for their work for this display. The Christmas season had a wonderful beginning with a Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 9, 2006, starting at 9:00 a.m. in the senior center at a cost of $5.00. Santa was there to greet little ones--and not so little ones-and was available for pictures with them. About 100 people enjoyed the activity, including some three generations-child, parents, and grandparents. The breakfast included pancakes, ham, scrambled eggs, cereal, muffins, juice and milk. The event was under the direction of Shauna and Stacee Meyerhoffer. Following adjournment of the December council meeting, a party for volunteers, officials and staff was held in the senior center. A wonderful dinner catered by Sandy's was served to about 65 people. The menu included pot roast, potatoes, salad, rolls, raspberry lemonade and strawberry cheesecake. Becky Burt, Bill Morris, and Shauna Meyerhoffer were in charge of the event. INTERLOCAL AGREEMENTS Many services for the city are furnished by interlocal agreements with other entities, which reduces the cost. Resolution 2006-G dealing with the interlocal agreement between the city and the Central Weber Sewer District was passed. This deals with the collection of impact fees levied by the district. The contract with Weber County for five years for law enforcement services was passed unanimously as Resolution 2006-H. Resolution 2006-I for the interlocal agreement with Weber County for animal control services, was also passed. Fire protection is also furnished with the agreement with the Weber County Fire Department. Deputy Weber County Attorney, Dave Wilson requested the previous interlocal agreement for the Weber Area Consolidated Dispatch Center be ended, as there is now a special district for the dispatch service. The request was approved. Mayor Keith Butler reported that the sewer plant will be making improvements to the sewer district to accommodate future residents. A recent article in the newspaper on the expansion of the sewer plant was not clear, as a new sewer plant is not to be constructed, but an upgrade to the existing one at its current location over the next 50 years is under consideration. He said the Bona Vista Water Board opted to buy an additional 700 acre feet of water for 2011. At the monthly mayors* meeting a suggested location of Legacy Highway at about 5300 West was discussed.
