Show the city. The doors are scheduled to be replaced on March 16, 2006, to match as well. He told the council that the Mayors Meetings he attends monthly have been helpful and informative. Our city is scheduled to host the next meeting. The Mayor and Mr. Morris attended the ground breaking in Marriott-Slaterville for the widening of I-15. There is a good possibility that $51 million more will be appropriated to extend the widening of the freeway to 2700 North. As of March 1, 2006, Bill Morris and Becky Burt will be taking over the prosecution for the city. When questioned, Mr. Morris stated that legislation has made it difficult to set up a new justice court in our community, as the county already has one. Possibly there may be such a court here later. Mr. Scott Van Leeuwen requested the city to ask Ogden City to removed the island exiting BDO on 400 North, because traffic has been seen hitting it. Mark Hodson thanked President Ilium for getting gravel on 700 South and 1200 West. He expressed concern over the sewer lift station in front of the city office should a power outage cause problems such as occurred in Plain City with a similar station. Mayor Butler said the lift station here is operated by and the responsibility of the Central Weber Sewer District. They will take care of any problems/and have done so in a timely way in the past. Our city does not operate any lift stations like the one in Plain City, and he hopes we will not in the future. President Ilium noted that our city uses grinder pumps rather than lift stations. Mr. Van Leeuwen said the Weber County Fire Board is considering purchasing a used fire truck to meet increased capacity needs, saving costs. The death of Martin B. Moore, Jr., Weber County Surveyor, was noted by Mayor Butler. Mr. Moore was of great service to our fledgling city when he surveyed and set the legal boundaries for our incorporation, at no cost to the community. Our condolences go to his family. Mayor Butler also reported on the successful activities being held at the Senior Center, and expressed his appreciation to Shauna Meyerhoffer and the volunteers who make this possible. Mr. Smout noted he has received positive comments about the senior meals. Mr. Morris asked the council to thank the county commissioners for helping make the senior lunches and dinners possible. An ad hoc Park Committee has been formed with Brent Perkes as Chair, to make recommendations for a new community park behind the Municipal Complex. Residents' suggestions and comments will be appreciated. Favorite family recipes are wanted for a cookbook which will be sold to help finance activities at the Senior Center. They can be given to LaRae Brown, 731-1577, or placed in a recipe drop box at the city office. Bits and Pieces Our condolences go to Councilman Scott Van Leeuwen on the recent death of his father, George Van Leeuwen. Shay Lynn Meyerhoffer, daughter of Chad and Diana Meyerhoffer was born February 2, 2006. |
