Show More Honors for Zac Blair October 3, 2006 Standard STARS The winners of the Standard-Examiner's weekly Standard Star will receive an engraved plaque courtesy of Gold Star Awards, located at 325 W. Antelope Drive, No. 7, in Clearfield. For information, visit www.GoldStarAwards.net. Zac Blair Fremont golf Age: 16 Class: Sophomore Position: Golfer Nickname: Z Interests Food: Steak TV Show: Wild 'N Out Movie: The 40 Year-Old Virgin Music group: Eminem Book: To Kill a Mockingbird Class/subject: AP Biology Favorite athlete: Tiger Woods Role model: Tiger Woods What I'd like to win a lifetime supply of: Shoes Hobby: Drawing Web site/video game: tiger- woods.com/Madden NFL 07 Biggest sports thrill: "Winning state last year." Best advice I've ever received: "Don't let your emotions get to you." Last week: Blair capped a Region 1 season in which he never carded a tournament score over par by shooting a 69 at the region tournament and taking home season-long medalist honors. Blair on his performance: "My dad has helped me a lot to help keep rounds under par this year. He said it would be a good goal not to shoot over par. A couple of rounds I got off to bad starts, but I just brought them back. (Being the region medalist) was good, but it was better to win as a team. I don't feel that much pressure for state (Oct. 11 -12 at Thanksgiving Point). We have a target on us but I think we'll do pretty good." Coach Bryce Ballif on Blair: "Out of seven (region tournaments) he didn't finish over par in any of them and was only even par once. We've had some pretty good golfers come through but we've never had anyone do that. As far as golf knowledge and experience he's extremely mature. He's been around golf since he was old enough to walk. He's pretty good at every aspect; he can hit a lot of shots." After high school: "I'd like to go to college at Oklahoma State and play golf."
