MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE - CITY NEWS - Marriott-Slaterville City Council Report for June 2006 By Joyce VanTassell Correspondent City Council discusses new detention pond/park Marriott-Slaterville City Council met on June 15 and listened to plans for a storm drain detention pond and park that will be developed on 700 South along the Willard canal. Conditional acceptance was given for phase 1 of the business park. A committee was appointed to study garbage collecting contracts and develop a proposal to present to the Council. RAMP tax funds of $5,000 were given to the city, which may be used to install a sprinkling system in one of the city parks. Planning Commission considers zoning changes The planning commission met on June 20 to consider zoning changes in the city. A public hearing was set for the next meeting, July 18. Another zoning change for Maverick, Inc., (2036 W. Pioneer Rd.) to obtain permission to move a stream was also discussed, and a public hearing was set for this proposed change on the same date. The state and the Environmental Protection Agency must approve moving a stream before the city can approve its part of the proposal. The Commission approved the site plan for the community park behind the city building, and IFA's final site plan was approved, subject to finishing up their sewer plan.
