Show for bids. President Dennis Ilium said it will be brought before the council in January. He feels that there will be some savings to some of the residents, but the exact amount is not yet known. He wants it to be a short-term contract. Recipes for the community cookbook have been collected, compiled, printed, and are on hand. Residents who pre-ordered them can pick them up at the city office. Extra cookbooks are available for $12 each on a first come basis. Bill Morris said the sale of the community cookbooks went very well. There were only 15 cookbooks left, by the time of the council meeting. Mayor Keith Butler advised the council of several matters with which he has been involved. He said the Bona Vista Water Board opted to buy an additional 700 acre feet of water for 2011. At the monthly mayors' meeting a suggested location of Legacy Highway at about 5300 West was discussed. Channel 17 was discussed at the WACOG meeting. The Swanson Foundation is considering putting a tactical facility with a 70 foot training tower and shooting range in the area, possibly on BDO. The city is seeking to add 1200 West and 400 North to the WFRC list for TIP, Transportation improvement Project, funds. Funding may be available between 2008-2013. The mayor clarified a recent article in the newspaper on the expansion of the sewer plant. A new sewer plant will not be constructed, but the existing plant in our city will be upgraded over the next 50 years. Councilman Scott Van Leeuwen said the fire district is planning on three new fire stations. The industrial park station was nearly sold, but the appraisal came back at less than the offer, so it is still pending. It will be mid-summer before any new station opens, so the district may rent the old station back for a few months. Mr. Smout said there is a stop sign at the Millcreek Subdivision but not one at Spencer Farms. Ken Martin advised he has a list of signs to be given to Weber County, including that stop sign. Mr. Van Leeuwen commended the staff for the efficiency on election day, with the seniors lunch, hearing tests, and flu shots all going on at the same time as the election. Bill Morris announced that the Christmas party will be next month, following the council meeting. The council would like to have someone cater the event. President Ilium reported that the pot holes in the roads have been patched. Some signs are missing or need repair. A breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 9, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. in the Senior Center was announced. The breakfast will cost $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Those interested were asked to RSVP to Shauna or Stacee Meyerhoffer at 394-7126. A free Evening of Music at City Hall is to be held on December 11, 2006, at the municipal building, commencing at 7:00 p.m. Bits and Pieces Raymond Alex Cameron, age 59, died on November 20, 2006. Mary Beth Capel placed 6th in the National FFA Agriscience Fair in Indianapolis. Bailey Brown, Keslee Anderson, McKenzie Hunsaker, Drew Holley, Brynn Heslington and Brady Spencer earned awards in the Reflection Contest at West Weber Elementary. |
