RD 1 JUNE 2006 Some pretty buds had sprouted in my mom's flower bed, but she couldn't recall what she had planted. "It's driving me crazy," she said. Then she found the map she'd made of her plantings. "So what were they?" I asked. JULIAN STEELE, Bellingham, Washington Our barbershop quartetan all-girl group was invited to perform at the Utah State Prison. We never had a better audience. The inmates called for encore after encore. Finally our director announced, "This next number is a little long. How much time do you have?" Someone shouted, "Five to ten years." LENORE SPENCER, Ogden, Utah While watching the news, my teenage daughter and I heard about a man arrested for abusing the painkiller OxyContin. Mindful of educating her about the dangers of drugs, I asked, "What do you think about that guy?" "He's an Oxymoron." ROBERT O'DONNELL. Mesa, Arizona X was talking to my doctor about a weight-loss patch I had seen advertised. Supposedly you stick it on and the pounds melt away. "Does it work?" I asked. "Sure," he said.
