Show prosecuted four cases on the weight limit on 1200 West which were contested. Others that simply paid the fine without contesting are not tracked. The city is proposing the road on 1200 West where it is low be raised to accommodate the new road into the Quail Meadows subdivision. A ditch pipe is being installed; Mark Hodson reported the ditches were working well and he did not want a syphon in the area. Delbert Hodson noted that the drain at the Nature Center is clogged at Mill Creek and needs to be cleaned. He also said there is gravel in several intersections which needs to be cleaned up. Expanding the parking lot on the west side of the city building is being investigated. The light on the rock in front has been installed with a photo-electric system which turns it on when dark. Recent heavy rains have caused problems with phone service when water got into the service lines, resulting in off and on service for three or four days. The annual independent audit is now being conducted on the city by Steve Davis, independent auditor. Two computer classes were announced at the Marriott-Slaterville Senior Center for senior citizens Course 1 is a basic computer class which will cover three main topics: 1) using the computer, 2) introduction to word processing, and 3) using the internet. The class will meet twice in September, with each class lasting a half hour. Course 2 will be a computer genealogy class which will be held once a week for three weeks, each lasting about an hour. Students will learn how to use the computer for genealogy. There is a limit on the number of students in the class, so those interested should register at the city office. Residents from Lake Point, Tooele County, Utah, met with Mr. Morris and Mayor Butler to discuss incorporation. They are in the process of incorporating and were referred to our city for advice. Harrisville City will provide Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training for interested residents. The course began September 14, 2006, and will continue weekly until October 26, 2006. The cost is $25, which is refundable upon successful completion of the course. The city was requested to announce that Milestone Counseling is looking for good parents who are interested in foster care opportunities. They offer full service support and counseling to assist foster parents. An incident at the Top Stop at 1210 W. 12th Street on September 1, 2006, saw the arrest of a Harrisville man, Michael William Grignon, on suspicion of two counts of third-degree felony aggravated assault. He was accused of using his car to attack a group of younger men. The younger men were cited for various misdemeanors at the scene. Bits and Pieces Darrell Lamar Gilbert 75, died on September 7, 2006. Mylee Sager, daughter of Justin and Lyndsay Sager, was born on September 9, 2006. |
