Show Continuing Education — Academic Information students will be charged a lecture fee of $.50 a quarter and a building fee of $3.00 a quarter regardless of the number of quarter hours for which they enroll. Off-Campus Classes—Due to the additional cost of teaching off-campus classes the fees are slightly higher than the fees for comparable classes in the on-campus Evening School Program. Specialized classes are contracted according to costs incurred in setting up and operating the class. Late Registration—A late registration fee of $5.00 is assessed evening students beginning with the first day general college evening instruction begins for the quarter. Exceptions may be made when classes are added to the schedule and when new classes are scheduled for a later date. A late registration fee of $5.00 is assessed off-campus students beginning with the second class period. Refund Schedule—Full refunds are made only when a class is cancelled. Refunds made for the convenience of the student are made according to the following schedule: Weeks in Attendance One week or less Second week Third week Over three weeks Amount Refundable 75 per cent 50 per cent 25 per cent No refunds allowed The 50 cent lecture fee is not refundable. Off-Campus Trade and Industry courses in which a reduced fee is charged are non-refundable. Attendance—Registration and enrollment presupposes regular attendance at recitations, lecture, and laboratory sessions. A student who is irregular in his attendance may be dropped from class and given an E or UW grade (see page 49 of this catalog). Changes in Student Schedule—A student who wishes to make a change in his schedule of classes must do so before the end of the second week in a quarter. After a course has been in progress for two weeks, a student may not enroll in that course without special permission of the instructor. Withdrawal—To withdraw from a course, a student must fill out a withdrawal form obtained from the Evening School Registrar's Office. After the 4th week a student must be graded by his 366 Continuing Education — Management-Logistics instructor before returning the withdrawal card to the Evening School Registrar's Office. A student may not withdraw the last two weeks of the quarter. Audit—Audit classes in Continuing Education are not permitted; however, a person may take a class without credit by filling out a non-credit card and paying the full fee. Additional Continuing Education Courses Avocational Course Offerings—In addition to the following course listing, avocational classes are offered which do not carry degree credit. Descriptions of these courses are found in this catalog or in the current evening class schedule. BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN MANAGEMENT-LOGISTICS The Management-Logistics curriculum is administered by Continuing Education and provides a unique and practical approach to educating the adult student in the rapidly growing field of logistics. The program is unique in that the student begins with courses in the logistics major and then completes the traditional general education requirements through an independent-guided study method. The major is traditional in that the student must complete a prescribed group of courses. However, the general education phase is non-traditional. Rather than completing a sequence of courses until the accumulation of the necessary number of credit hours, the student will complete broad areas of study. These areas include: humanities, social sciences and the natural sciences. Each of the three area studies is divided into two parts: independent-guided study followed by intensive resident study in the area seminar. The major is divided into core courses, which are required by all students intending to complete a baccalaureate degree, and six specialty areas of which the student may select, one. These areas include: (1) Data Automation, (2) Distribution Logistics, (3) Logistics Management, (4) Procurement, (5) Production Management, (6) Quality Assurance. The Tentative Program Design Is as Follows:* *Note: The indicated courses and necessary changes are subject to the approval of personnel from Hill Air Force Base and the Weber State College Academic Council. 367 |
