Resolution 2006-G dealing with the interlocal agreement between the city and the Central Weber Sewer District was passed after discussion. This deals with the collection of impact fees levied by the district. The contract with Weber County for five years for law enforcement services was passed unanimously as Resolution 2006-H. Resolution 2006-1 for the interlocal agreement with Weber County for animal control services, was also passed. Garbage service was discussed. The city has not been involved in the garbage collection business. Resident Jerry Stanger said that our city residents are paying more than neighboring communities pay for garbage pickup. Residents of Marriott-Slaterville pay $15.00 per month, with Plain City residents paying $7.00, Farr West, $7.50, and Harrisville $11.00 per month. He suggested the city obtain a similar contract and add an additional 50 cents for its parks. This would reduce residents' cost and give the city additional income for parks. City Administrator Bill Morris was asked to gather information for review by the council. Mr. Van Leeuwen complimented the staff on its work on the budget. He informed Sheriff Deputy Fowers that he has not been receiving weekly email reports from the sheriff's office, and requested that Deputy Fowers check into the matter. Council President Illum said that the city plans to spend a considerable amount of money to patch roads this year. Mr. Morris stated the curb in the Mill Creek Subdivision will help prevent the edge of the asphalt from breaking and cracking while still supporting our low-impact road concept. The noxious weed problem within our borders was discussed. Jerry Stanger is concerned about the Dyer's Wode in the 700 South storm water detention area. He also said that there is a new weed going across the nation called yellow buttercup weed, and he recommended that it be sprayed. The Mayor has contacted the county to spray the parks. Young people can pick Dyer's Wode for cash as part of the Bag O Wode program. At the May 16, 2006, meeting of the city planning commission, a site plan for Sandworks, a company that builds dune buggies, located at 812 West 1700 South, Unit A, was approved by the commission. Neighbors have complained about late night noise and vehicles racing down the street near the business. The commission discussed building material requirements for the Mill Creek Meadows subdivision. They approved allowing vinyl siding for the backs of the subdivision homes, in addition to the brick and stone materials previously approved. Maverick Gas has applied for a zoning changed from A-1 to C2-P for 2036 West Pioneer Road. The commission set a public hearing about the proposed change for the June 20, 2006, planning commission meeting. Bits and Pieces Joan Taylor was awarded scouting's highest award, the Silver Beaver, for her many years working with Cub Scouts. Kaleigh Wayment was voted in as an 8th grade officer at Wahlquist Junior High School. Erin Spencer was elected as a 12th grade officer at Fremont High School.
