Show Sheriff Brad Slater Lights the Torch for the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run May 13, 2006 Lighting a torch for a cause NICK SHORT/Standard-Examiner Weber County Sheriff Brad Slater speaks before the beginning of the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run on Friday in Pleasant View. Law enforcement agencies from across Weber County took part in the event. YCC honors women for strength, courage OGDEN Your Community Connection has honored 24 Top of Utah women and three groups for their strength and courage in achieving success despite hardships. The annual Mattie Wattis Harris Spirit of the American Women Awards are a public expression of appreciation, according to a YCC news release. Elmer 170 The Higher Education Award, given to Judi Elmer, who worked full time and raised eight children during chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer. Following recovery, she went back to school and is now an information technology instructor and adviser at the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College. Judi Elmer Receives Award, May 2006 |
