Show Bright sunshine. Nan out later Katherine Cowley came for a nice visit in eve. Monday, Jan. 16 Nan has a cold. She did washing, then at my insistence lay down I was duncy all day. Zina Handy brot me a virlet plant. Talked with Melva & with Edith re Richard Macke marriage. Made arrangements with Laurie for business meeting Friday pm Nans cold no better. I still below par. Company in pm Uncle Wary (Stokes) and aunt Ted came for a nice visit. Mary Goodman came with Margaret De Vries who brot me a cake. Henry visited also a quiet eve & early to bed. Wednesday, Jan. 18 Nan some better & I much livelier. Sunny weather still no snow. To LL Club at Weber Club 1 pm. Marian Pugmire provided transportation. Anniversary party but not like old times Mrs. Oberhansley came in eve. We began Marthas Husband to read & heard interesting conversation Thursday, Jan. 19 Nan better this am. & I too. Much talk on TV re inauguration of President Kennedy tomorrow. Nan feeling some better With Janet & Rosabelle to Melvas a shower for their new daughter in law, also named Janet. Only 12 of our family present. At 6 pm Marie came & we made checks & fixed up accounts. Friday, Jan. 20 Inauguration Day. Radio started telling of snow bound Washington at 7. Parade at took the oath of office and social affairs began with dinners. Nan & I spent all a.m. watching TV and thrilled by appearance of the boyish Kennedy. Laurie called & I went with him to meet Roy Young, Bill Louise & Young Mr. Glassman at the Bank directors room to discuss taxes, etc on my account. A satisfying meeting. At home after. Millie Barton & Nellie Proudfit called. Nan well enough to go out for a while. Saturday A useless day useless day reaction after yesterdays excitement. A short ride in eve. |
