Show Peggy, Arch & children visited Feeling better eve Monday, June 26 Began preparations for supper for Marg & family tomorrow Nan did a big washing. Blanche Johnston came to visit. I am enjoying my new book. Through these Men by John Mason Brown. Too hot to get out, so did arrangements on phone. Tuesday, June 27 Went around garden with Nan to see beautiful flowers The garden is lovely feeling rather duncy all day, but went through motions of preparing for party. Mary Goodman helped Nan & me put on a nice supper for Margaret, Ralph & Dorothy, Harold Susan, Arch & Peggy, Meg. Maren Anita Elizabeth & Don A nice time. They home at 10 PM Wednesday, June 28 (Howards birthday) A hot, murky day. No energy left. Reading Through these Men at intevals. Nan decided not to venture out in the heat, so stayed downstairs & ironed. We do appreciate our cooling system. Zina Handy called for a nice phone visit. She recalled Dicks sweetness to her & others. Thursday, June 29 Lovely roses from the garden this am. Gary working hard to keep the place nice. Not quite so hot today. Nan took her pm out. I read some in US News with my very strong glasses and finished reading on the machine the Through these Men book by John Mason Brown. Inspiring in spots and overdone in others. Nan home early & we played a game. Friday, June 30 Nan and I spent all am downtown (went early to avoid heat) Picked up various things for giving away also 2 hats for Nan & 1 for me. Had lunch at Bon Marche. Rested after getting home at 3 pm. Nan did some of her cleaning. Saturday, July 1 I spent much time reading & resting in my big chair. A new book Death of a Spinster by Frances Duncombe which promises to be fairly good. Nans Betty & children at supper time. I had been asleep & thought it was OK Sunday 2 Sunday School 10 am. |
