Show Thursday 27 Cont. Sugar cane country up the mountain Then a beautiful stretch of country thru Late to the L.D.S. Temple. Nan and the others went with a guide around the grounds while I sat in the waiting room & had a long visit with Russell Tanner. Later we went by car to an upper gate thru which we passed to the very front door of the Temple. The grounds superb and of course beautifully kept. The mirror pools most effective (We had stopped at Punalulu Caf for lunch at a unique tea room at noon) Retraced the coast road back to our hotel at 530 pm. Went over to surf room for dinner & early to bed. Friday 28 Kept rather quiet today to rest up a bit. Breakfast at the Snack shop. Did a little shopping for gifts after (Our breakfast or brunch at 1130 am) In our room reading Vanity Fair the last 100 pages dragging out interminably. In our room for a little lunch 5 pm. then a walk out on the busy avenue of shape and the International Market. More Vanity Fair & to bed late Saturday 29 Breakfast at surf room & sat out a while to watch the Saturday 29 Cont surf and the happy riders to the drug store across from hotel. Took taxi to Hawaiian Village Buaerht Chinese bowls as gifts. Checked over gifts we had bought & packed them in a tote bag we bought for the purpose. No supper, but a drunk & punch at surf room and sat out a while for a last (almost) look at the ocean. Finished Vanity Fair at least. A long book that Nan says she will always remember. Also read a while on the Hawaiian book we bought. Played several games of checkers a tio (all but one) Sunday 30 Our minds greatly on our departure tomorrow. Breakfast at surf room dressed in our Sunday clothes. After, got busy on packing all in nice shape for a 7 am start in am. Looked around for Sunday dinner. Walked to Moana Hotel will not serve until 6 pm. Inspected the hotel felt our Royal Hawaiian the best choice. Had a cold drink out on their big (and noisy) terrace overlooking the ocean.
