Show Friday July 21 Cont. Rested in our room. Read Vanity Fair wrote cards After 5 to the Grumond Caf for good dinner. More reading after a nice walk. Saturday July 22 Breakfast & siting on terrace at the S Surf room. Nan saw the M at the harbor at some distance. Watched surf riders on the beautiful ocean. In room wrote to Fern, Edith & Henry while Nan got off some cards, warmer this a.m. We fixed a little lunch in our room. Nan left at 1245 on tour to Pearl Harbor. In room listened to a good, ball game & heard some good radio programs. Nan back at 5. We went to Copper Kitchen for a messy meal. Enjoyed siting out in garden in beautiful eve. Reading Vanity Fair in room to an early bedtime. Sunday July 23. A warm a.m. Breakfast on the Surf terrace. Lovely sea breeze family fanning our faces. Sat in lobby & read newspapers Sunday 23 Cont. Shopped for a few little gifts at hotel pharmacy. In our room, balanced up our cash & did writing. Took taxi to LDS tabernacle where one of the wards had services with a speaker commemorating July 24th & the Mormon Pioneers. A brother Fong with a Bro Quist brot us to the hotel, puking Eva Lowe (Chinese) on the way The three of them came with us to our room where we had a fine view of the native show Alone (?) A pleasant time until 10 p.m. Monday Our usual breakfast. Our day lightened by mail from home letters from Laurel E and Leila Bigelow. All good news from our home town where they are sizzling in 90 degree temp. Took taxi to Sears by store. Shopped around in the nice cool store. Looking for a taxi we walked thru Woolworths & other stores along the street Hot & tired. Finally home in taxi. Had lunch at Surf. I all done up. Lay around rest of day perspiring. A Yaught Club party in garden |
