Show Che Obituary PASTOR BENJAMIN J. WASHINGTON was born on December 21, 1913 in Camilla, Georgia. He departed this life at the age of 79, on Sunday, January 24, 1993 at his residence. Pastor Washington served in the Armed Forces from 1941-1943 and entered the ministry October 24, 1942. He was the founder and builder of 2nd Baptist Church, Boulder, Colorado where he first pastored in 1944. He also pastored the 2nd Baptist Church, Cheyenne, Wyoming, New Zion Baptist Church, Odgen, Utah and New Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio. He was the first black chaplain legislature in Wyoming; the Ministerial for the state former vice president of Alliance, Columbus, Ohio; and former treasurer of the Pastor's Conference, Columbus, Ohio. Pastor Washington was preceded in death by his parents, Albert L. and Martha Washington; wife, Ferne E. Washington; and brother, Dasher Washington. He is survived by devoted wife, Edna Mae Washington; daughter, Honey (Roland) James and son, Mr. and Mrs. Albert L. Washington, both of Sacremento, California; step-children, Ken (True) Martin of Denver, Colorado, Gloria (Ernest) Hughes, Celeste (John) Ward, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, Paulette (Jerry) Mouton of Dallas, Texas and Orlando J. Fort of Ft. Worth, Texas; eighteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; special sisters, Margaret Moser, Thelma Neal, Maefield Cloyd and Bertha Nell Armstrong, and a host of relatives and friends.
