Show Martha Graham:....00 Harris e OGDEN - Our beloved Martha Harris Graham, 81, went home to her Father in Heaven on Thursday, January 4, — 1996. a oe, _ Martha was bo on.rn February 1, 1914 in Slidell, ¢ ; sono5 Ie Louisiana, a daughter of Mr. . Charlie and Doshie (Source) _ Harris. She mar-_ ried Joseph Graham, October © uel, wee ih Pr Cayne Miss. _ They settled in the Ogden area . in 1944. Joseph passed away in Re ‘ 1954. Martha ‘ was employed at Hill AFB as an years until | sii manager 38 item her retirement in 1989. She was a grand matriarch of her | family and has been responsible for the rearing of one brother, one sister, _ three children, various many foster children. nephews and _ : : _ Her two greatest joys were church and community service. She was .an | active and lifelong member of New Zi- on Baptist Church where she was on the Deaconess’s Board for over 50 years and a Sunday School teacher for | over 30 years until the time of her | death. . _ Martha served as the Chairperson Of. the Board of Directors of the Ogden Area Community Action Agency. | She | ‘represented the Marshall White Area on numerous projects. She was on the ‘Board that led to the creation of what — Is NOW known as the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology Center. She has | also served on many committees for — Ogden City, working with the Mayor, City. Council, Redevelopment Depart-. ments on various occasions. 7 _ Martha held lifelong memberships with the Order of the Eastern Star (past worthy matron) and the American _Legion Auxiliary, Unit 66. ey She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Reid (Graham) of Ogden, Utah; — one grandson, Richard A. (Alicia) Frye of Madison, Wis.; one granddaughter, Alfonso (Kimberely) Tapp of Ogden, Utah; four great grandchildren: two brothers, Tommy Harris of Slidell, La.: and George Harris of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, RB (Juanita H.) Taylor of San Dimas, Calif.; various neph- + ews and nieces including, Leonard Harris’ and Utah; Arthur Charles and Davis Harold of Ogden, Cagler and Dosie Mae Peavey of Slidell, La.; and a host of relatives and friends. Martha is also survived by her longtime and spe- cial friend, Tom Johnson, Jr. of Ogden, — Utah. She was preceded in death by two Sisters, three brothers, various relatives and one grandson, Malek Reid. _ The viewing will be held on Friday, January 12, 1996 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden. The funeral services will be’on Saturday, January 13, 1996, 11 a.m. at the New Zion Baptist Church, located at 2935 Lincoln Ave. with Pastor George Merritt officiat-. ing. Interment will be in the Ogden City : Cemetery. } |
