He was a member of the _ Horsepond Bap_tist Church, Grayshil in 1988 he graduated from ‘Maxwell AFB Squadron Officers School. In OGDEN - Archie Hood Jr., 82, died March 13, 1994 in Washington Terrace Re of renal failure.— He was born April 15, 1914 ’ in Pick- ens County, Alabama, a son of Archie ~Hood Sr. and Sarah Wilder. He married Jennie Vaughns, May | 10, 1930 in Portland, Arkansas. —s_ He had lived in Alabama, Arkansas. and moved to Ogden in 1944. He was a member of the Jehovah Railroad and had operated and — owned the Hood Cleaning Company. He is survived by his wife, Jennie Hood of Ogden; and the following sons | and daughters, Odell (Linda) Hood, Newport News, VA.; Alvin (Cheryl) Hood, Ogden; Bernice Clayton, Sacra- mento, Calif.; Doris Douglas, Oakland Calif.; Roberta Williams, Elnezer Hood, Bobbie Daniels, and Helen Hood all of Ogden. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren; ! 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a } daughter, Bereatha Weatherspoon; his parents, grandparents; and the follow- | ing brothers and sisters, Allen, Fletch- er, Elizabeth, Mahalia, Willie Ann, _ Mattie, and Alberta. Archie loved to visit with his friends pe from the railroad and enjoyed visiting with his neighbors and reading. Archie had a great sense of humor and could keep you laughing. He was a wonderful husband, father, and _ grandfather. He loved his family very much and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 1994 at 11 a.m. in the Myers Mortuary Chapel in Ogden with Elder James Wilcox officiating. He was dedicated to promoting equality and justice tor every- one. is survived by two sons, “Anthony sort Beaufort, S.C.; Brandon A. West-Spratt; Lake Mary, Florida; his mother Albertha Spratt, Beaufort, S.C.; +3 grandmother Irma Jean Spratt, Oak- land, Calif.; four brothers, three sisters, three. aunts, one uncle, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of reltives and friends.
