Show Administration and Organisation President's Message The State Board of Higher Education has approved my request to replace me as President of Weber State College effective July 1, 1972. After nineteen years of service in this position I feel that some younger person should be appointed to this position. As this catalog goes to press a successor has not been appointed to succeed me in this position. The school year 1972-73 will be another of progress in the history of Weber State College. We are living in the most rapidly changing times in the history of the world. This period may be known in history as the revolution of knowledge. These changes present challenges to young people greater than any other generation has faced. They also present great opportunities, probably greater than any generation has faced. Only individuals with high personal training and broad education will be able to succeed in the world of the future. Weber State College welcomes the opportunity to assist young people to prepare themselves for these challenges and opportunities. Weber's faculty will number more than 365 during the year. These faculty members have advanced degrees from the leading universities of this country and several foreign countries. The past success of Weber's graduates attests to the professional competence of the faculty members. They offer to the students high quality educational opportunities and personal assistance. During 1972-73 the $4,000,000 Social Science Building will be in use for the first time and the $2,000,000 Education Building should be completed during the year. These buildings will provide excellent classrooms, laboratory and office space for several departments that have been located in different buildings including some former family residences on the campus. The catalog describes the policies of the college and its educational offerings for the year. I trust that those who attend will take full advantage of their opportunities to enable them to live more successfully in our rapidly changing society. William P. Miller President |
