Mechanical Drawing (Elementary)—Care and use of drawing instruments, practices in proper lettering, conventional lines and symbols, geometrical constructions and beginning orthographic projections. Individual instruction. Two laboratory periods a week. (2) 102. Mechanical Drawing (Intermediate)—Advanced orthographic projections; primary and secondary auxiliary views; revolutions, intersections, and developments; isometric and oblique projection; sections and study of working drawing. Individual instruction. Two laboratory periods a week. (2) 103. Mechanical Drawing (Advanced)—Point, line, plane, problems, length and slope of line, development and intersections of surfaces, shades and shadows. Prerequisite: Mechanical Drawing 102. Individual instruction. Two laboratory periods a week. (2) Architectural Drawing 221. Blueprint Reading and Estimating (Elementary)—Figuring qualities of building materials, their cost, cost of handling, labor required for a four-room house. Individual instruction. (2) 222. Blueprint Reading and Estimating (Advanced)—Continuation of elementary estimating, including construction reports and comparison with estimates. Individual instruction. Two laboratory periods a week. (2) 236. Architectural Design—Planning and designing small homes. Prerequisite: Architectural Drawing 221. (2) Building Drawing and Materials 051. Building, Drawing and Materials—Drawing symbols and detailed layouts related to building construction. Prerequisite: Intermediate mechanical drawing. Individual instruction. Two laboratory periods a week. (2) 052. Advanced Building, Drawing and Materials—Continuation of building, drawing, and materials home planning, floor layouts, elevations, stairs, sections, and plot plans. Individual instruction. Principles and practices of roughing out metal, buffing, leading welding and the preparation of metal for refinishing. Fundamental principles and demonstrations in spray painting. AWS (3) 114, 115, 116, 117, 118, 119. Auto Body and Refinishing- Roughing out metal, leading shrinking, welding, and metal finishing; care and use of the various types of spray painting equipment and the fundamental procedures in color matching and blending touch-up. AWS (3-3-3-3-3-3) Automotive Service Courses of Instruction 060. Driver Training—Skill and laws involved in operating motor vehicle. Road and classroom instruction. Automotive Brakes and Alignment—Principles of brake operation and front alignment, methods of servicing powered and non-powered brakes and steering. Lecture and equipment demonstrations. AWS (3-3) 150, 151. Automatic Transmissions—Theory, construction, methods of overhaul, and trouble-shooting of automatic transmissions. Classroom work consists of the lecture, use of films, manufacturers' charts, etc. Units of each kind of drive are disassembled, inspected and reassembled according to manufacturer's recommended procedure in the shop. (3-3) 208, 209. Carburetion—Theory, construction, and methods of servicing carburetors and other carburetion units. (3-3) 218, 219. Automotive Electricity—Theory, construction, and servicing storage batteries, generators and their control systems; wiring systems, ignition systems, and starting motors and their controls. (3-3) 228, 229. Motor Tune-Up—Operations necessary to restore to factory specification the following units: Ignition, generators and controls, battery, starter, carburetor and fuel pump; compression with the use of tune-up equipment.
