Life Saving and Water Safety (Senior Life Saving)—The basic skills of life saving and water safety are taught which leads to Red Cross Senior Life Saving Certification. Introduction to Physical Education—Designed to orient and acquaint students with the aims and objectives, scope, professional preparation and opportunities, and problems in Physical Education. A W S (3) 169. Introduction to Dance—A Survey course including the history and evolution of dance, and critical appreciation for contemporary forms. A W S (3) 170,171,172. Professional Activities (Men)—For professional students. Substitutes for required three quarter hours in Physical Education. Basic skills, techniques, and methods in sports, dance, and exercise activities. Fall: Football; Handball, squash, conditioning. Winter: Stunts and tumbling; Gymnastics. Spring: Basketball; Track and Field. 2 hours each term. 173, 174, 175. Professional Activities (Women)—For professional students. Substitutes for required three quarter hours in Physical Education. Basic skills, techniques, and methods in sports, dance, and exercise activities. Fall: Speedball, speed- away, flag football; body conditioning. Winter: Stunts and tumbling; Gymnastics. Sports Officiating for Women: Speedball and Volleyball—The course includes lecture and laboratory work in the mastery and application of rules and officiating techniques for speedball and volleyball.
