Show Health Occupations — Nursing COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING PROGRAM WEBER STATE COLLEGE-UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY Marjorie Somers, Coordinator Instructors: Barbara Kelley, Joyce Murray Weber State College in cooperation with Utah State University has extended the Associate Degree Nursing Program to the Cache Valley area. Students will be recruited from Cache County each year. These students will take the general educational requirements at Utah State University and most of the clinical experience will be in the Logan facilities. Students will register for nursing courses at the Weber State College and will graduate from Weber State College with an associate degree in nursing. Students from Cache Valley will have first priority for available spaces. Students from other areas of Utah may apply for admission to the program on a basis of available spaces. No out-of-state students will be admitted to the Cooperative Associate Degree Nursing Program. Students may apply to the Coordinator, Department of Nursing, Plant Industry Building, Utah State University. COOPERATIVE BACCALAUREATE DEGREE NURSING PROGRAM Ruth S. Swenson, Coordinator The University of Utah College of Nursing, through collaborative effort, has extended the Baccalaureate Degree Nursing Program to the Ogden area. Students may register for general education courses at Weber State College. The four course sequence of nursing courses arc offered in the Ogden area by the University of Utah, and registration for these courses is made through that institution. Facilities used for the clinical experiences include the McKay-Dee Hospital Center, St. Benedict's Hospital and Weber County Hospitals. Experiences are also selected at many community agencies in the Ogden area. Graduates of the program are granted a baccalaureate degree by the University of Utah. Students interested in this program may obtain detailed information by contacting the counselor for the Baccalaureate Degree Nursing Program at the Weber State College campus. Health Occupations — Nursing PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM Karen W. Beaver, Director Instructors, Karen W. Beaver, Sonia Parker; Lecturers, JoAnn Balls, Leone Maas. The Practical Nursing Program offers a one-year academic curriculum in practical nursing which qualifies the student, upon successful completion of the program, to take the Utah State Licensing examination. A student who successfully completes the training and passes the examination is eligible for registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse. The curriculum provides for theory classes offered concurrently with clinical laboratory practice in the hospitals of the area; including, McKay-Dee Hospital Center, St. Benedict's Hospital and Weber County Hospital. Students are awarded, by Weber State College, a certificate of proficiency upon successful completion of the Practical Nursing curriculum. 050. Elementary Practical Nursing—The theory of fundamentals of nursing care as applied to all types of patients within a wide age range from birth through old age. W (8) 053. Intermediate Practical Nursing—The theory of the nursing care given patients by practical nurses in nursing situations of intermediate complexity. S (8) 055.
