Show GENERAL INFORMATION Plan of Organization Weber State College is governed by the State Board of Higher Education. The Commissioner of Higher Education is appointed by the Board and is its executive officer. The State Board consists of fifteen members appointed by the Governor of Utah with approval of the State Senate. The State Board has delegated to the Weber State College Institutional Council, as permitted by state statute, the responsibility for institutional affairs within the role assigned to the College as part of the state system of higher education. The Institutional Council consists of eight members appointed by the Governor of Utah with approval of the Utah Senate plus the President of the Weber State College Alumni Association. The President of the College is appointed by the State Board of Higher Education. All others are appointed by the Institutional Council upon recommendation of the President. The President is the chief executive officer of the College. He is assisted by the Administrative Vice President, the Academic Vice President, and the Business Vice President. The President's Council meets weekly to consider the administrative business of the College. The Council includes the President and Vice Presidents. The Administrative Council meets regularly to discuss and recommend administrative policies, methods, and procedures for conducting the business of the college. The Administrative Council includes the following: President, Vice Presidents, Deans of Schools, Dean of Students, Director of Institutional Research, Dean of Admissions and Records, Dean of the Division of Continuing Education and Summer School, Dean of Learning Resources, Director of Public Information, Director of College Relations, and President of the Staff Association. Administrative committees help administer institutional policies and are as follows: Admissions, Credits and Graduation; Athletics; Awards and Honors; Campus Parking; Catalog; Commencement; Community Service; Eligibility; Fine Arts Center Advisory Board; Fine Arts Series; Freshman Orientation; Homecoming; Publicity; Safety; Standards; Student Activities; Student Financial Aids; Union Policy Board. 385 |
