Show Services of the College Services of the College VETERANS' SERVICE Veterans Coordinator—It is necessary that all veterans who attended Weber State College under one of the Public Laws clear through the Office of the Veteran Coordinator. Veterans may receive guidance and counseling related to educational opportunities afforded by the public laws and the programs offered by Weber State College. Those with problems in registering or any other special problems should contact the Veterans' Office. THE WEBER STATE COLLEGE UNION Weber State College Union—The Weber State College Union is the social-cultural, and recreational center of the campus for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. All student government facilities, offices and council rooms are located in the Union. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests are encouraged to use the facilities and services. Reservations for meeting spaces and other facilities should be made well in advance. A list of services arc available at the Weber State College Union. All groups using the facilities are required to observe Union policy. Those groups who do not observe Union policy will be excluded from using the facilities. Staff members working directly with the students are: the Director of the Union and Student Activities, Assistant Union Director, the Coordinator of Student Activities, and Coordinator of Student Government. Students serving on Union Activities Committees are provided opportunities for growth in human development. Union committees available are: Arts and Crafts, Dance, Exhibits, Films, Games, Hospitality, Lectures, Married Students, Music and Talent, and Special Events. Associated Students—The Associated Students operate under the ASWSC Constitution, which has established three branches: the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch. The ASWSC provides the opportunity for students to serve either as an elected student officer or on several committees. Elected student officers include the studentbody president, vice presidents, and senators. ASWSC committees include Leadership, Elections, Spirit, Community Service, Orientation and SEED (student tutoring service), and Ombudsmen. Community Service Committee—The Weber State College Community Service Committee has been organized to maintain public relations for Weber State College; to provide an outlet for campus talent and develop student participants and to serve the community. Under supervision of the Community Service Bureau, lists of current talent are compiled and available for community organizations. All students are invited to apply to the student body officers, to the committee chairmen, or the union staff for assignments to these committees. OTHER SERVICES Academic Advisement—At the time of admission to Weber State College, every student is assigned to a faculty adviser in his major field, in General Education, or in Guided Studies. Through an appropriately assigned adviser, guidance is available for each student as he plans his registration schedules and moves towards a degree of his choice or towards a certificate program. When a student is placed in Guided Studies, or on academic probation, he is assigned a counselor in the Counseling and Testing Center. A student may seek assistance from his adviser or counselor with any educational or personal problem at any time. For information concerning Academic Advisement, inquire at the Office of Advisement. Bookstore—The College Bookstore, located on the ground floor of the Union Building, is the source for all college text books and supplies. The bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday. The evening hours will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday and Tuesday of each week. During the first week of the quarter the bookstore is open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Buildings and Grounds Service—For the student's class work and activities the College provides an adequate physical plant and a buildings and grounds staff which maintain an environment that is comfortable, healthful, and wholesome. College Library—The Library provides a rich store of printed materials especially selected to serve students and faculty. The collection, continually growing in cultural value, includes more than 160,000 volumes along with a working library of pamphlets, documents and bibliographical aids.
