Show Academic Information Academic Information as general education area requirements, at least 40 credit hours in the four areas of Humanities, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences. These hours shall be proportioned as follows: at least 9 credit hours in the Humanities; at least 12 credit hours in the Social Sciences; at least 9 credit hours in the Life Sciences; at least 9 credit hours in the Physical Sciences. In addition, women students shall complete one approved course in the Department of Family Life. SECOND BACCALAUREATE DEGREE A student may qualify for admission to a second baccalaureate degree following the completion of a first baccalaureate degree at an accredited institution. Admission to a second baccalaureate degree program must be approved by the Admissions Committee prior to registration for this program. Application forms for a second baccalaureate degree may be obtained in person or by mail from the Admissions Office. To qualify for the second degree, the student must complete a full year of residence and a minimum of 45 credit hours with a grade point average of at least 2.0, in addition to whatever requirements he may have completed for the first baccalaureate degree. GENERAL EDUCATION The General Education Program described in the following sections is required of all students who receive a bachelor degree from Weber State College. Satisfaction of Area Requirements by Examination—All students are eligible to take the CLEP (College Level Examination Program) battery which, if passed satisfactorily, will satisfy the general area requirements. (See CLEP under Testing, page 34.) Satisfaction of Requirements by Advanced Placement Courses—Students who have completed advanced placement courses in high school and passed the Educational Testing Service examinations with acceptable scores 5-4-3, will be granted 12 hours of credit for each and will be given general education credit where applicable. Transfer Credit in General Education—Students who transfer from state supported institutions in Utah, automatically clear the College's General Education Program if they have completed requirements outlined by the former institution. Transfer stu dents who are not in the previously described classification need to carefully review the general education requirements listed in this catalog. GENERAL EDUCATION AREA REQUIREMENTS Humanities Area The general education area requirements in Humanities may be satisfied by selecting from the following courses. A candidate for the Bachelor of Arts must complete at least 15 hours from at least four groups, one of which must be Literature, Group II. A candidate for the Bachelor of Science must complete at least nine hours from at least two groups, one of which must be Literature, Group III. Group VII is for Honors students. I.
