First Year Russian—Listening and speaking skills receive primary emphasis, although reading and writing are an integral part of the program. Second Year Russian-Grammar and composition of intermediate level and progressively advanced reading from well-known authors. Continued emphasis on listening and speaking skills. A W S (3-3-3) SPANISH Spanish Major*—Students majoring in Spanish are required to take 36 to 40 hours of upper division credit. The following numbered courses are required: 304, 305, 306, 311, 312, 313, 314, 315, 3.16, and 330. Additional courses may be chosen from the following numbered courses: 302, 303, 309, 401, 411, 412, 414, 415, 416, 417, 418, 419, 430, 483, and 499. Spanish Minor*—Students minoring in Spanish are required to take 18 hours of upper division credit which must include courses numbered 304, 305 and 306 and nine hours of literature which may be chosen from the following numbered courses: 311, 312, 313, 314, 315 and 316. Spanish Teaching Major*—A Spanish teaching major must complete the program outlined above for Spanish majors and must also take 340, which must be completed prior to commencing student teaching or similar training. Spanish Teaching Minor*—A Spanish teaching minor must complete the program outlined above for Spanish minors and in addition must take 330 and 340.
