Show GENERAL INFORMATION Plan of Organization W7eber State College is governed by the State Board of Higher Education. The Commissioner of Higher Education is appointed by the Board and is its executive officer. The State Board consists of fifteen members appointed by the Governor of Utah with approval of the State Senate. The State Board has delegated to the Weber State College Institutional Council, as permitted by state statute, the responsibility for institutional affairs within the role assigned to the College as part of the state system of higher education. The Institutional Council consists of eight members appointed by the Governor of Utah with approval of the Utah Senate plus the President of the Weber State College Alumni Association. The President of the College is appointed by the State Board of Higher Education. All others are appointed by the Institutional Council upon recommendation of the President. The program of instruction is carried out by five academic schools within the College: School of Arts, Letters and Science, School of Business, School of Education, School of Technology, and School of Allied Health Sciences. Each school is under the direction of a dean. The members of the faculty participate in the formulation of policies through the Academic Council and through committees appointed by this Council. The voting members of the Council are elected by the faculty. The Academic Council operates under the provisions of the Constitution and Bylaws for Faculty Government as adopted by the faculty and approved by the Institutional Council. The Academic Council meets monthly to consider matters pertaining to the instructional program of the College. The Academic Council committees are as follows: Academic Freedom and Tenure; Admissions and Academic Standards; Appointment, Promotion and Dismissal of Faculty Personnel; Curriculum; Elections and Apportionment; Honorary Degree; Library Policy; Research and Professional Growth; Salary; Student Affairs. Student government is organized according to the Constitution of the Associated Students of Weber State College which states in the Preamble: We, the Associated Students of Weber 425 |
