Engineering Technologists are essentially "hands on" engineers. They apply established engineering principles and rules and direct production of machines, structures, and products which engineers have designed. This "hands on' approach is in contrast to the Engineer (who may also begin his training in the Pre-Engineering program with the School of Technology) who concentrates on design and on development of new engineering principles and procedures; and who requires, therefore, more extensive training in mathematics and science than does the Engineering Technologist. 282 |
