Show Education — Secondary Education Education — Secondary Education Music Education Composite Teaching Major The Music Education Composite Teaching Major is recommended for prospective secondary school music educators and consists of a minimum of 80 quarter hours in four areas as listed below. Requirements may be modified to meet individual needs. Music Theory: Music 110, 111, 112, 210, 211, 212, 379, 380; and either Music 410, 411 or Music 412, 413 Music History and Literature: Music 301, 302, 303 or Music 304, 305, 306 Music Education: Music 216, 219, 220, 221, 222, 223, 224, 225, 320, 321, 322, 420, 425, 426 Applied Music: 10 hours of major ensemble, 6 hours of private lessons Mathematics 29 hours 9 hours 26 hours Total 80 hours Mathematics and Physical Science Composite Teaching Major The Mathematics and Physical Science Composite Teaching Major requires courses in three of the four departments: Chemistry, Geology-Geography, Mathematics, and Physics. At least 27 hours of specific courses must be taken in one department and at least 20 hours in each of the other two departments selected. Early consultation with the student's adviser is essential for anyone intending to take the composite major. Social Science Composite Teaching Major The Social Science Composite Program consists of an academic major in one of three areas of the Social Sciences (Geography, History, Political Science). The student will take, besides his major, a total of 45 hours in three fields listed in groups A and B below with a minimum of 14 hours in any particular area. The student must take his major plus at least one secondary area of concentration from Group A. He will then select his other areas of concentration from Group B.
