This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show FRIDAY February 16, 1951 Palo Alto. Cal. Beautiful clear warm day, Mary Mother & I went for a drive to Saratoga and Los Gatos south west of Palo Alta about 20 mits. Beautiful country and we visite hme of a Mr Thomas Williams up on the hills from Los Gatos. A beautiful home on of the prettiest places I have ever seen. Nice lunch at sundale. We went to ward party at Palo Alta in evening. Taylor flew to Utah today SATURDAY February 17, 1951 Ogden Utah Nice day. Mary took us to air port at San Francisco at 10.55 a.m. she met Frank Y. Taylor at air port and he flew home on air plane with us. Nice flight 3 hours to Salt Lake Flew at altitude of 17000 feet. Dr Jr & Thair our sons met us at air port in Salt Lake and brought us home. Nice ride and so glad to see them Col Thair had just flown from Alaska We all had nice dinner at Myrenes Col Thair & Ruth. Jr & Blanch. Taylor Peery Hellen & Lucile. Q Smart & Mrs Cambel We had had a nice evening there SUNDAY February 18, 1951 Ogden Snowed about 3 inches and snow last nite and to day. Stake Conference Dr Thair did not feel very well to day and we have been home all day Taylor Peery left for Salt Lake at 12 noon and will leave for his hose in Palo Alto at 5 pm to day. Dr Jr called this afternoon and this morning. Ruth went back to Salt Lake with Justin this evening We retire early MONDAY February 19, 1951 Beautiful clear day. Snow all melted on pavement Col. Thair went to Hospital and down town with Dr Jr and etc lunch with him. Dr Jr took Thair to Salt Lake this afternoon Thair will stay there and visit with his daughter Ruth tonite and deport via air tomorrow morning at 8 am for his home at San Antonia Texas part South Houston. We have been home all day. Myrene called. Retire early I have written several letters and recd letters from Oertel |
