This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Tribune March 16 51First Lt. Jack J. Saunders, Army medic missing in Korea.Ogden Officer Missing in Korea ActionOGDEN Special First Lt. Jack J. Saunders, 27, Ogden, has been missing in action in Korea since Feb. 13, according to word received from the Defense Department by his wife, Mrs. Larelle R. Saunders, 684 Kershaw St.Lt. Saunders, fighting with the Second Division, field artillery, U. S. Army, has been in Korea since last July. He saw service during World War II, serving with the military police escort guard and participated in the North African campaign. He was discharged from the Army in 1945 and reenlisted March 3, 1950.He was born in Clearfield Feb. 5, 1924, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John K. Saunders. He was educated in Ogden city schools and was graduated from Logan High School in 1941. Following military service in World War II, he attended Weber College and the University of Utah, where he was completing a four year premedical course at the time of his enlistment.On June 6, 1946, he married Larelle R. Rich of Logan in that city. The couple has a 4 year old daughter, Kim. |
