Show Obituary Ogden - Our beloved sister Martha H. Graham, 81, went home to her Father in heaven on Thursday, January 4, 1996. She was born on February 1, 1914, in Slidell, Louisiana the fifth child of Mr. Charlie Harris and Doshie (Source) Harris. She married Joseph Graham, October 21, 1933, in Picayne Miss. They settled in the Ogden area in 1944 to work at the Naval Depot. Joseph passed away in 1954. Martha was employed at Hill AFB as an item manager for 38 years until her retirement in 1989. Martha was a high school graduate and had completed many college credits. She completed the requirements of the Christian Education Administrative workshop of the National Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Congress. She was .certified to teach Christian Education, Counseling for Church leaders, Christian Stewardship, and Missionary Education along with other subjects. Her two greatest joys were church and community service. She was an active and lifelong member of New Zion Baptist Church; she served on the Deaconess's Board, Board of Trustees, and as President of Women, Director of Baptist Training Union, and superintendent of the Sunday school as well as having taught Sunday school for the past 30 years. She has also served as Chairman of many other committees for New Zion Baptist Church. She was a member of the Executive Committee of the National Baptist Convention and Past president of the Intermountain General og Association of Churches Women's Department, serving with the association for the past 15 years. Martha had a personal testimony and Knowledge of Jesus Christ as her Saviour. Indeed, this testimony was the strength of her life. Through this testimony, she touched the lives of many people in Ogden. Martha has received numerous awards and citations for her untiring efforts in the field of community service. At the time of her passing, she served as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Ogden Area Community Action Agency. She was also an original board member since the Agency's inception in 1964, serving on the Board until her passing. She represented the Marshall White Area on numerous projects. She was on the Board that led to the creation of what _ In now known as the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology Center. She has also served on many committees of Ogden City, working with the Mayor, City Council, and Redevelopment Departments on carious occasions. Martha was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star and past worthy matron and member of the American Legion Auxiliary, unit 66. She was a grand matriarch of her family and has been responsible for the rearing of one brother, one sister, three children, various nephews, and many foster children. She is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Graham) Reid of Ogden Ut; one grandson, Richard A. (Alicia) Frye of Madison WI; one granddaughter, Alfonso (Kimberly) Tapp of Ogden Ut; four greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Tommy Harris of Slidell La. and George Harris of Los Angeles, Ca; one sister, RB (Juanita H.) Taylor of San Dithas, Ca.; various nephews and nieces including, Leonard Harris and Arthur Davis of Ogden Ut, Charles and Harold Cagler and Dosie Mae Peavey of Slidell La; and a host of relatives and friends. Martha is also survived by her longtime and special friend, Tom Johnson Jr. of Ogden Ut. She was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, various relatives and one grandson, Malek Reid.
