The curriculum emphasizes writing skills and video/audio production skills, but students also learn about research, interviewing, editing, layout and design, and legal and ethical issues in journalism. Students can specialize in one of four interdisciplinary tracks: (1) Technical Writing, (2) Web Publishing, (3) Literary Journalism, or (4) General Reporting.
