MUSC 4771 - Stringed Instrument Literature I Credits: (2) A study of music for technical development, plus solo, and chamber music literature of the stringed instruments of the orchestra. This class will focus on music for beginning and intermediate students. Prerequisite: MUSC 2871 /MUSC 2872 . Music Majors and Minors only MUSC 4772 - Stringed Instrument Literature II Credits: (2) Advanced study of music for technical development, plus solo, and chamber music literature of the stringed instruments of the orchestra. This class will focus on music for upper intermediate and advanced students. Prerequisite: MUSC 4771 ■ MUSC 4820 - Pro Tools 101 Credits: (l) Typically taught: Fall [Full Sem] Spring [Full Sem] This course covers basic Pro Tools principles. It provides everything you need to complete a Pro Tools project—from initial set up to final mixdown. The course focuses on Pro Tools 9 software and covers a multitude of new functions and feature enhancements. Whether your project involves recording live instruments, MIDI sequencing of software synthesizers, or audio editing or region looping, this course will give you the basic skills to succeed. Audience: This course is designed for the audio enthusiast with little to no Pro Tools experience. Possession of the following skills is recommended prior to beginning this course: basic familiarity with operating a computer and basic understanding of recording techniques, processes, and equipment. MUSC 4821 - Pro Tools 110 Credits: (l) This course provides a more detailed look at the Pro Tools system on top of the knowledge learned in Pro Tools 101. It covers all the key concepts and skills needed to operate a Pro Tools system. The course provides the foundation for the later 200-series of courses on Pro Tools music and post production. Audience: This course is designed for end-users with basic Pro Tools skills, including musicians, audio engineers, and sound editors for film or television. Prerequisite: MUSC 4820 (Pro Tools 101).
