Show peacefully in her bassinet in the bedroom while we were laughing and visiting in the living room. Vern and I were thrilled to be living in a beautiful, new home in Ogden Canyon. So, on our first wedding anniversary, we celebrated the occasion by an open house in the early evening. A good number of friends and relatives attended. Some who attended were Aunt Ida Ferrin and her husband Chariton, Aunt Ida Ferrin's youngest son's wife, also Dick Frazer, our canyon neighbors Richard and Murial Cropper Bush, and the Mohlman girls who loved good music. In that my cousin Vivian was in the area at that time, my brother Orion and Charlotte invited all of us to a very nice restaurant. The evening was filled with laughter and a leisure dinner. Vivian was a natural comedian. When Lottie came one time to visit from California, Vern took us to Patio Springs. The car got stuck on the tar gravel, and Vern's white slacks were no longer white! RECREATION One year we belonged to Les Danseurs Club. They had so many dances on the nights that Vern was playing that we didn't bother to pay the dues to belong again. Our social affairs consisted of attending the ward and Elders' parties. During the summertime when the dance clubs were closed, we often went to Lagoon. We traveled on the Bamberger which ran from Ogden to Salt Lake City. WORLD WAR II VOLUNTEER When Vern enlisted in the Navy, he asked my parents if I might live with them until he returned. I was expecting my first child at this time. Vern, as a Musician 2nd Class, was |
