Vern wrote her that he had played a dance job in Huntsville and made $1.25, and that the band had a $1.00 job coming up on Wednesday. MARRYING in THE RIGHT PLACE Madeleine received a letter from her Aunt Jennie whom she had visited in L.A. She misses me and reminded me of the serious talk we had about Temple marriage and being married for the right reason. A man should prepare himself through the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood and not marry in the Temple just because the woman wants that kind of marriage. December 24, 1933 In 1942, the telephone number at the Marriott home 1208 Porter Avenue was 5136. Vern ended work at the Ogden Standard-Examiner Newspaper in April 1942 and started work for Johnson & Leck Construction Company in April 1942 and was there until just a few days before he entered the Navy in November 1942. December 3, 1942 REMEMBERING THE MILITARY A Patriotic program was held at the Ogden L.D.S. 18th Ward. Vern's name was listed among those in the military service. February 14, 1943
