Show There was always laughing with jovial remarks whenever they met together." In our scriptures, there are many places that we can find things that are really uplifting. But I, too, have been reading a lot from Alma this month to prepare some things for Christmas for the Primary children, and I found some very special scriptures: "But that ye would humble yourselves before the Lord, and call on his holy name, and watch and pray continually, that ye may not be tempted above that which ye can bear, and thus be lead by the Holy Spirit becoming humble, meek, submissive, patient, full of love and all longsuffering; Having faith on the Lord; having a hope that ye shall receive eternal life; having the love of God always in your hearts that ye may be lifted up at the last day and enter into his rest." In my copy of the Book of Mormon, I have a quotation marked that was Camilla Kimball favorite scripture. By the side of it I wrote up my source and that was Leslie Norton in 1990 when he spoke in our ward. I wanted to use this one: "And now I would that you should be humble and be submissive and gentle easy to be entreated, full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive." So you see that our family has a lot to be thankful for by our relationship to Madeleine because, in her humble way, she has shared her life's work with us. She has set us an example. She has proven what we all know and are told-how important the family is and how important your family relationships are. Not to fight but to have peace, to be having more and more love for our families, more patience, and to be humble. "I say unto you, can you imagine to yourselves that you hear the voice of the Lord, saying unto you, in that day: Come unto me ye blessed, for behold, your works have been the works of righteousness upon the face of the earth? I say unto you, can you look up to God at that day with a pure heart and clean hands. I say, can you look up having the image of God engraven upon you countenances?" The first thing my daughter said when I told her that Madeleine had passed away was: "Oh, Mom I remember her face." My daughter has been traveling with her husband in the military for 16 years, and I don't think that she has seen Madeleine for a long time. But isn't that what we really remember-the beauty and love which we saw in her face. I'm thankful for all the opportunities that I have, and I think we all |
