Show MADELEINE'S FUNERAL SERVICE BRENT MARRIOTT, Family Prayer CAROL W. HURST, Organ Prelude JERRY HARROP, Officiating We welcome you to this gathering of remembrance in celebration of the life of Madeleine Marriott Harrop. Several months ago when Mother was in fairly good health, we asked if we could have for her a surprise 88th birthday party, and she said: "Absolutely Not!" We were all surprised though when she spent her birthday, Halloween, Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving in the hospital. Mother knew the risks of her operation, she realized that she needed it, and the surgery was successful. She never gave us any indication that she did not want to recover. She was in cardiac intensive care for six weeks. She was mentally keen, alert, she knew what was going on, but she was on a respirator which did not allow her to speak or to swallow. She was aware of those who telephoned and inquired about her and her condition. Although Mother was hospitalized in Salt Lake City, more than the extra-mile effort was put forth by some to get through the procedures to see Mother and personally visit her. We thank Bishop McKnight, Bunny Aiken, Lucille and Keith Barker, Michael Gates, Kathy, Don, and Tony Sansone, and Michelle and Paul Bachman. Some of these people visited Mother several times and that was a joy to her. Tony asked us for some of Mother's favorite scriptures so that he could read to her. Mother had mentioned before she went to the hospital that she wanted to read Alma again. So for many days, Tony who is a devout Roman Catholic, read several chapters to her from the Book of Mormon. Knowing that Mother was a spiritual person, Teddy Griffith asked her acquaintance, Susan |
