Show remember the conversation we had just a few weeks ago when we went to Maddox for dinner and on the way home Madeleine said that there wasn't very much that people would be able to really say about her and her achievements in this life. She was very humble about the things she had done, and she really meant that. So we started talking about genealogy, and I wrote her a little note later saying how much I really appreciated her helping me with my genealogy. Its been more than 30 years since she invited me to come to her home and helped me to learn how to fill out family group sheets. She shared pictures and experiences with me of my ancestors, and this has been a very important part of my life-something that I really treasure and something that has really had an impression on my life. The young women in our Church express their motto, and I may be paraphrasing, but they say I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me and I love Him. I wouldn't know that if it had not been for Madeleine, for Jerry, and for Lowell and the many trips they have made to my home to update me on the histories. Every time they printed a new one and got more information, they would come and bring it to me. This summer they brought me the family coloring book for my grandchildren and how important this information is and the beautiful pictures they have shared with me. Even yesterday when Jerry gave me this book, I was just so thrilled because it has pictures in it of my family which I have never seen before. As I read it last night, I thought I really don't have to tell you of all the qualities I found in Madeleine. It made me feel a little presumptions just writing them down and talking about it, so I'm going to read to you just a little bit that she wrote about our family. I hope that you will listen carefully because I have just realized (from this lesson of reading this) that it might be possible that we become who we are by the we look at the world and how we look at others. It has a real influence and a real power in our lives. "I had the privilege of being very close (and she is speaking of her Mother) throughout my entire life until she passed away. This gave me the opportunity of seeing what a courageous, dedicated, and strong person she was during illness, death of immediate family members and relatives as well as the passing of friends and neighbors. All of these qualities were also noted and appreciated by my sister, brothers and the |
