To earn Departmental Honors in Communication, a student WILL: 1. Earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and a GPA of 3.7 in the major. 2. Complete COMM 4990 - Senior Seminar with a grade of A on both the portfolio and thesis. 3. Present a paper or product in a professional setting, such as WSUs undergraduate research symposium, Utah Communication Association, Western States Communication Association, or a regional broadcasting or journalism conference. 4. Attend at least one Honors activity (Issues Forum, Food for Thought, or service or social activity) each year after being accepted into the Honors program. • Join a professional association, such as Public Relations Society Student Society of America (PRSSA), Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), National Broadcasting Society (NBS), Broadcast Education Association (BEA), etc. • Actively engage in a communication student organization, such as The Signpost, Studio 76, Ogden Peak Communications, KWCR 88.1 FM, the debate team, Lambda Pi Eta (the national undergraduate communication honor society for communication), etc. Weber State University 2014-2015 Catalog |
