16 that this could only stand the Nation in good stead and that, therefore, why didn't we just totally informally and on our own continue to meet. We did and now we're back in a mode where we are conferring with Government, but we're doing so as a private group now, not as an official Presidential advisory committee. CARR: Right. JONES: Now, in addition to serving as the chairman of the Taxation Task Force of the Roundtable, as the co-chairman, of course, I try to assist our efforts in the Roundtable with developing our positions on a number of other issues. I think one of the more recent examples of that is the agreement that we were able to negotiate with the American Jewish Congress, the American Jewish Committee and the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith, which President Carter just announced in this morning's press and, there again, I think is an indication of the willingness of the Roundtable to work on a host of issues that are important to the country. We participated in those negotiations also. CARR: Is the Roundtable based in any particular place? JONES: Oh, no.
