45 JONES: Well, that, of course, depends on what the nuclear option of the United States turns out to he, hut we have such a substantial backlog in that business that we felt we had to stay with it and we had to increase our investments in R & D in this field so that we could not only produce a product that would have the on-line availability that is typical of General Electric products, but that we'd also be in a position that if the United States should decide to exercise a nuclear option, we'd be ready to serve. CARR: Right. But that seems to have been, it seems to be somewhat less of a priority now, nuclear power. I'm speaking in very rough terms(?). JONES: Well, if you read the Carter, President Carter's Energy Program, he did announce that we would have to place increasing reliance on nuclear and called for greater safeguards, has decided to stop the breeder (?) in terms of production, just keep R&D activities, but the light water reactors, I don't think but there's any question that we're going to have to have those.
