Show 26 CARR: But that must he quite a thing that this --well, they had that advisory committee before -- the fact that this group felt it wanted to continue even though it's of semi-official status. There must be a certain loyalty to it on all sides. JONES: Well, I think there is a feeling that it makes progress in terms of common understandings, in terms of mutual respect. It's worthwhile to keep this. CARR: Do you think that well, I can only ask, really about yourself people often have on both sides of the table, have gotten to change their view, you know, labor (not clear) might look somewhat differently on... JONES: I think we've gotten a much better understanding of why certain positions are taken on each side of the table and a much better understanding of what it is going to take to rectify, modify, modify is probably a better word, some of the positions that have been taken. In other words, when you begin to understand the other fellow's problems, you begin to develop a little better understanding of why he takes a certain position and you realize that if you can do something to address his concerns and his problems that there can well be a change in the position that he has developed. |
