Show LETRS based spelling curriculum 14 with the letters together to produce approximate pronunciations of words (Bower & Bowers, 2017). The objective of this method is learning meaningful units of sound and sound-symbol relationships as well as learning consistent letter or syllable patterns. Activities can consist of sorting words by letter or syllables by patterns. Other activities can be studying letter or syllable rules through a structured phonics program (Pan et al.,2021). Phonics also includes syllable manipulation such as blending, segmenting, eliminating, categorization. It also includes letter-sound correspondence, blends, digraphs and onsets and rimes that can help spell phonological regular words or word parts (Daffern, 2017). When students progress through increasingly challenging levels of phonics, they gain the ability to spell words they haven't been explicitly taught. This progression in skills allows them to decode and encode unfamiliar words more effectively. After students begin building knowledge of the increasingly difficult levels of phonics skills, they begin to be able to know how to spell untaught words. This building of knowledge of linguistics begins at the alphabetic stage then onto phonemic awareness and phonics. This opens the ability to phonologically recode specific words. As children develop larger lexicons of known words, the process of recoding becomes increasingly lexicalized. Larger patterns that frequently appear within words are then easier to learn. Findings suggest that as student's mental lexicons increase, they have a larger base to use for encoding skills in spelling (Tortorelli & Bruner, 2022). Orthographical Approach Orthography means correct writing and is the study of letters or string of letters and how they are used to express sounds and form words (Dafern,2017).It represents spoken language in written form based upon the established usage. Orthographic patterns and mapping help spellers to spell conventionally(Pittman et al., 2022).Orthographicspelling is the parts of words that are |
