Show LETRS based spelling curriculum 304 rite the sounds and then write the spelling that represents the sound in w circles on a whiteboard. The circles represent each pop-it pushed. When the sounds do not match the spelling, we must remember the letter by heart. Teacher will write a heart symbol above that letter to remind students. 1. water= has five sounds:/w/ /ŏ/ /t/ /er/. The spelling that represents those sounds are /w/=w, /ŏ/=a, /t/=t, /er/=er. Draw a heart above the a. 2. walk= has three sounds: /w/ /a/ /k/. The spelling that represents those sounds are /w/=w, /a/=al, /k/=k. Draw a heart above the al. 3. together= has six sounds: /t/ /o/ /g/ /e/ /th/ /er/. The spelling that represents those sounds are /t/=t, /ū/=o /g/=g, /e/=e, /th/=th, /er/=er. Draw a heart above the o. pelling dictation (2 minutes):The teacher will saythe following sentence S out loud and the students will write it down. The students will spell the best to their abilities, including the correct capitalization and punctuation. Afterwards the teacher will write the sentence on the board. The students will correct any mistakes they made, including capitalization and punctuation with a different colored pen. “I need water because my mouth is dry.” Day 3 S ort pictures & words into the ou and ow words (5 minutes): We are only focussing on six spelling words that have the ou and ow words but there are many more words with ou and ow. Let's sort the pictures & words. Pictures help students to connect words with meaning. Students will cut and paste pictures/words into the correct sort. Irregular word practice (5 minutes): Write the three irregular words. Use sequence and glue to trace over the letters of the spelling words.
