Show LETRS based spelling curriculum 328 pictures/words into the correct sort. Irregular word practice (5 minutes): Write the three irregular words. Use different color crayons to trace over the letters of the spelling words. Say the irregular words in sentences. pelling dictation (2 minutes):The teacher will saythe following sentence S out loud and the students will write it down. The students will spell the best to their abilities, including the correct capitalization and punctuation. Afterwards the teacher will write the sentence on the board. The students will correct any mistakes they made, including capitalization and punctuation with a different colored pen. “He says that magical crystals are a myth. Day 4 W rite 4 sentences (5 minutes):Students will write4 of their own sentences using a different y as a consonant and y with short i sound in each sentence. They also need to use at least one of the irregular words in each sentence as well. Have students highlight, circle or underline the spelling words they used. Students may illustrate a quick picture for each of their sentences. Have students share their sentences and illustrations with a partner. I spy with the y as a consonant and y with a short i word list (5 minutes):Have students play an I spy game with thear and or word list from the Spelling Dictionary. For example: The color of a lemon. Answer: yellow. Students may do this in partners or small groups. The teacher and students may go over all the words on the list before the game. These can be sorted into the three categories as well as alphabetic order or other creative ways. Have students pull out 2-4 of the spelling words that are most challenging for them to spell for the next activity. pelling review with multisensory activities (7 minutes): S Students will use letter cards, letter magnets, letter stamps, letter stickers, or other tangible manipulatives such as salt, sand, gel, or technology to practice all the spelling words together as a class or group.
